Temporary Use Permit

There are three (3) different kinds of temporary uses which require a permit.

  • Interim Uses allow an owner, developer, contractor, tenant, lessee, or other occupant to conduct an otherwise permitted use on their property at the same time they are improving the property to the required City standards.
  • Seasonal Uses allow sales of seasonal goods in any nonresidential zone for a period not to exceed six months in any 12-month period.
  • Temporary Uses associated with construction permit activities including, but not limited to, equipment storage yards, job shacks, materials storage yards, or living quarters, which are not otherwise permitted outright by City ordinances or regulations.
  • Temporary Uses Associated With Residential Visitation allow for activities associated with guests parking and/or occupying a recreational vehicle on private property while visiting the occupants of a dwelling unit located on the same lot, provided the applicant is the owner of said lot and will not result in such use occurring more than 30 days in one consecutive 12-month period.

If a temporary use is not listed, no permit is required. We recommend you consult with the Building Division and Spokane County Fire Department to address any concerns or necessary permitting by other agencies.
