Welcome to Greenacres Park!

Greenacres Park is an 8.3-acre park in eastern Spokane Valley, adjacent to Riverbend Elementary School. The park was constructed in 2012 and enjoyed several enhancements in 2025.

Don’t Miss the Barnyard Bash!

We hosted a ribbon cutting and community celebration of the expansion of Greenacres Park on Friday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Over 500 people joined the fun in Spokane Valley’s barnyard-themed community park, exploring the visiting petting zoo, trying out the park’s new features, enjoying Copsicles, and helping cut the ribbon in celebration.

Phase II Improvements 

Construction of Phase II of Greenacres Park is anticipated to begin on March 31, 2025, and be completed by mid-to-late summer. The park will close during this time for the safety of the community and to expedite the construction. Phase II improvements outlined in the city’s Parks Master Plan and identified through community input, include:

  • Six Pickleball Courts, One Tennis Court and Two Basketball Courts
  • Community Garden
  • Backstop
  • Expanded Playground and Splashpad
  • Disc Golf Putting Ring
  • Shade Structures and Shade Trees
  • Expanded Parking and Pathways
  • Paved Perimeter Trail

The Phase II project budget is $2 million, of which 75% or $1.5 million is funded by state and federal grants. The City successfully applied for two grants through the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO), receiving $500,000 from Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) – Local Parks and $1 million from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

Art Installation

In 2020, the Spokane Valley Arts Council generously donated an art sculpture, Huckleberry Daze, created by artist Jerry McKeller, which was then installed in the park in 2023.

Phase I Improvements

Phase I of the park was completed in 2012 for $1.4 million, including $296,250 from a state legislative appropriation, and included:

  • Farm Themed Playground Area
  • Splash Pad
  • Informal Amphitheater
  • 40’x60’ Shelter and Stage
  • Multi-Use Fields
  • Walking Paths
  • Disc Golf
  • Landscaping
  • Restrooms
  • Parking Lot

Park Acquisition 

Two parcels of land totaling 8.3 acres were purchased in 2007 from Raymond Brown, Karla Ruddach and Edward Lehman, which would become our future Greenacres Park. The Greenacres Park land was purchased for $497,820 with the help of a 50% match in grant funding that was obtained from the Washington Interagency Committee, which is now known as the Recreation and Conservation Office. Greenacres was Spokane Valley's first new park after the City was incorporated on March 31, 2003.
