City and Chamber Offer Workshops for Starting or Growing a Business
Spokane Valley businesses are invited to learn about permitting and business licensing programs and connect with local resources.
SPOKANE VALLEY, WA—Business owners, operators and entrepreneurs interested in learning how to navigate permitting and business licensing in the City of Spokane Valley or connecting with local resources to launch or grow their businesses are encouraged to register for two free workshops in mid-November.
- Learn About the City of Spokane Valley Permit Center and Business Licensing, presented on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to noon online only, will provide detailed information to help businesses and entrepreneurs obtain city business licenses and permits. Presenters will include City of Spokane Valley Building Official Jenny Nickerson, Economic Development Specialist Susan Nielsen and Business License Specialist Robin Holt. The webinar will outline the process, requirements and opportunities for business growth, building construction or expansion plans and government contracting options, as well as answer questions. - Small Business Resources – Meet the Local Experts, presented on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 2-4 p.m. at the Spokane Valley Library, 22 N. Herald Road and online, brings together local organizations and agencies to assist business owners and entrepreneurs of all sizes. Participating agencies will include the Women’s Business Center/SNAP, StartUp Spokane, SCORE, Spokane County Library District, SBA, SBDC, Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and the City of Spokane Valley. The event will be moderated by Susan Nielsen, the city’s economic development specialist, and will offer guidance and resources to assist businesses and entrepreneurs with factors that impact starting and growing a business, from developing a business plan, hiring staff, marketing, and licensing to marketing, customer service and free online resources.
